McKinney campaign and for ballot access for the Green Party of
Texas. Ms. McKinney, former congresswoman (Dem) from Georgia and
current, front-running candidate for the Green Party nomination
for President, is striving to raise $5,000 in small amounts in
20 states in order to qualify for matching funds, and of course,

ABOUT ONGOING ACTIONS ESPECIALLY RELEVANT TO HARRIS COUNTY FROM

Death
Penalty Vigils -- 6/2008 UPDATE: The US Supreme Court pondered
the cruelty of execution methods, and concluded that Kentucky
at least could continue the killing. Nationally, the de facto
moratorium. is over. However, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals
granted a stay on June 3 which was to be the day of Derrick Sonnier's
scheduled death; it remains to be seen what will happen for the
dozen and more executions on the books for the remainder of the
year 2008 in Texas. In the past, whenever Texas planned to kill
someone, abolitionists gathered from 5:30 - 6:20 p.m. on the day
of each state execution. To learn about executions scheduled ,

Confronting MAXXAM.
In the past, Southern Alliance of Coastal Redwood Earth Defenders(SACRED)
held non-denominational prayer and meditation vigils every Monday,
from 5:00- 6:00 pm at MAXXAM headquarters to protest its destructive
logging of old growth redwoods in California and its other bad
behavior. They have a Houston
Volunteer page, and their website has updates about OTHER
environmental rapes being perpetrated by profit hungry corporations
abetted by corrupt government.) NOW in
2008, google "Rain Forest Action Network" lots
of Stop the Coal Rush action!
