Some of her issues are:

• Flooding - stop the developers who build without concern for urban planning, which causes runoff from the newly concreted areas to flood older neighborhoods and areas along the bayous. Stop the current city council who lets them do whatever they want to the detriment of citizens who then find that all of a sudden their neighborhood has become a flood zone!
• Stop Gentrification! – high $ condos are built in older, neglected neighborhoods, which raises property values, which raises property tax, forcing out long-time residents who no longer can afford to live in their own houses! Poverty is created!
• Quality City Services without Layoffs
• Public transporation to all communities
• Clean up the garbage and tear down abandoned houses in our neighborhoods to make them safe and healthy.
• Balance the budget.

Let me tell you a little about Jolanda Jones, the Green-endorsed candidate for City Council

She is running for one of the 5 At Large Positions, which means if you vote in Houston, she will be on your ballot on NOVEMBER 4th!

Jolanda is one of the lawyers who cracked the HPD crime lab case and brought it to the public's attention. She represented the defendants who had faulty evidence presented against them from the police department's laboratory.

She is also a 4 time Track & Field national champion.
