The Green Movement is guided by ten key values. The first four are known as the Four Pillars, and they form the foundation for all other values and party platforms.

Ecological Wisdom

The Earth sustains all life. Green ecology goes beyond environmentalism because it connects the mistreatment of nature, animals, and people. Therefore, when humanity harms the web of life, it ultimately harms itself.

Social Justice and Equal Opportunity

The movement works toward a world free from oppression and inequality. In addition, justice must extend across class, gender, race, citizenship, age, and sexual orientation.

Grassroots Democracy

People strengthen democracy when they participate directly. They must engage in the political, economic, and environmental decisions that affect their lives.

Nonviolence

The movement rejects violence because it is shortsighted, harmful, and self-defeating. Instead, it seeks a world where disputes are resolved peacefully and war becomes obsolete.

Decentralization

Local communities should hold both power and responsibility. Furthermore, decisions must align with ecological health, social justice, and sustainable living.

Community-Based Economics

A sustainable economy respects the Earth’s natural limits. It must also meet basic needs for everyone through democratic and locally controlled systems.

Feminism

Feminist values inspire cooperation, understanding, and equality. For example, these principles replace systems built on domination and control.

Respect for Diversity

The movement honors biological and cultural diversity. It also aims to protect Earth’s ecosystems while upholding human rights such as dignity, liberty, and justice for all.

Personal and Global Responsibility

True sustainability requires action at every level. Therefore, individuals should live with sufficiency while societies pursue fairness and justice worldwide.

Future Focus and Sustainability

Decisions must consider long-term impact. Like the Iroquois, the movement envisions a society that balances present needs with the well-being of future generations.
